Durham MPP Calls on McGuinty Government
For Commitment on Darlington New Build
QUEEN’S PARK – Durham MPP John O’Toole has once again called on the McGuinty government to make a commitment to the new build at the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.
In Question Period today, Mr. O’Toole asked the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure when Ontarians can expect the new build to begin at Darlington.
The Durham MPP pointed out that the McGuinty government found time for its $7 billion backdoor Samsung deal, along with expensive industrial wind farms and solar power. Yet Ontario is still waiting for any word on the new units at Darlington.
“For all its green energy talk, one would think there would be a focus on Canadian made technology through green nuclear energy,” Mr. O’Toole said. “Despite its claims to support the Darlington project, there is still no progress from the McGuinty government.”
Mr. O’Toole said he will continue to work towards a firm commitment from the McGuinty government. “This is all about safe, reliable energy for the future of Ontario and about jobs and investment in Durham Riding and throughout our province. It’s time for the McGuinty government to make the Darlington new build a new priority.”
